Construction
Demand for primary and second homes at the beach is strong and expected to continue. Some people are buying a beach home now to rent out and/or use for vacations until they can retire and make it their primary residence. No matter how the property is utilized, the realization is that beach property is a special investment which will grow in value and pleasure. There is a limited amount of existing beach property. It is highly unlikely that new subdivisions will be allowed on the coast to create more lots. As a result, our beaches are teeming with new construction and remodeling projects on existing lots. New and old residents alike are updating, adding another story, tearing down existing homes so a clean sheet of paper can be used to design a beautiful new home from scratch. The approval process for demolition is not difficult and the expense is not nearly as much as many believe. Building on numerous Gold Coast beaches (Ventura County) began in the 1920's. Many homes were built on leased land. Over a long period of time, various leaseholders have offered residents the opportunity to purchase their lots. Seacliff, located approximately ten miles northwest of Ventura, was the most recent and final holder of leased land offered to residents. If you are interested in building or remodeling, I will be pleased to introduce you to the architecture, codes, costs and talented people who can handle your project.
